ABOUT US

United Way of Greater Cleveland is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that invests the funds it raises to improve the lives of more than 400,000 people in our community each year through 202 programs at 126 health and human service agencies.

Through your contributions, and with strong volunteer leadership, we are working to create long-lasting change to ensure that all residents have access to the building blocks for a better life: health, education and income. To accomplish this, we recently implemented an investment strategy that focuses on solving some of our community's most pressing problems. The funded programs will, among other expected outcomes, help children improve their academic performance, elevate our working poor out of poverty through job skills training and offer a path out of homelessness, hunger and financial distress for individuals and families.

United Way is unique in our ability to bring together people active in their communities, business leaders, nonprofit organizations and government agencies to address the underlying causes of problems and to advance the common good.

Our Mission
United Way of Greater Cleveland is a leader in addressing health and human service needs through convening partnerships, funding programs, generating resources, and advocating for public policy to support our community's priorities.

Financial Accountability
Our total administrative costs continue to be much lower than the national United Way average and far less than many other charities. Because of United Way's volunteer involvement, the greatest part of your dollar possible, nearly 88 percent, goes directly to help people in need in our community.

2-1-1
For everyday needs and in times of disaster, 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember, toll-free phone number that connects Greater Clevelanders with health and human services, such as food, shelter, counseling, employment assistance, quality child care and more. Visit their Web site: 211cleveland.org
