Nonprofit Resources

Numerous resources are available to the nonprofit community in Greater Cleveland, and United Way of Greater Cleveland is always willing to help organizations. To become a nonprofit, an organization must meet specific guidelines established by the Internal Revenue Service. Click here to learn what the IRS requires. In order to avoid inefficient duplication of services, we encourage you to learn about the many already existing organizations before you establish a nonprofit in this community.

If you want to find out about how to qualify for funding through United Way of Greater Cleveland, you will need to file a Health and Human Services (HHS) statement form with us.

Agencies receiving checks from United Way of Greater Cleveland or United Way Services of Geauga County must also comply with the requirements of the USA PATRIOT Act and other counterterrorism laws by completing, signing and submitting a Counterterrorism Compliance form annually. Download the Counterterrorism Compliance form now.

United Way of Greater Cleveland knows that government funding is often a critical source of income to local agencies. It is often legal for nonprofits to lobby on behalf of their organization. For more information on nonprofit advocacy, click here.
