| United Way of Greater Cleveland is committed to protecting your privacy and places strict controls on the gathering and use of personally identifiable data. Collecting your Personal Information We will ask you when we need information that personally identifies you (personal information) or allows us to contact you. Generally, this information is requested when you are asked to register before making a donation, subscribing to e-mail newsletters, completing an online survey, registering for events, etc. When you provide your personal information, a profile is created. You will automatically be assigned a personal identification number which will be sent to your computer in the form of a small text file, called a "cookie." The use of this cookie allows you to populate registration and donation forms without having to sign in again. Use of your Personal Information We use your personal information for two primary purposes:
When you register, or otherwise give us personal information, United Way of Greater Cleveland will not, under any circumstances, share that information with third parties, except with your consent or as authorized by law or regulation. And we provide you with the means to ensure that your personal information is correct and current. All data is stored in password-controlled servers with limited access. You also have a significant role in protecting your information. No one can see or edit your personal information without knowing your User ID and Password, so do not share these with others, and be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, United Way of Greater Cleveland implements and annually updates appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections. In addition, United Way of Greater Cleveland employees are educated regarding the requirements of working with confidential and personally identifiable information as well as the consequences of misuse. Changes to this Statement United Way of Greater Cleveland will occasionally update this privacy statement.
