2009 Community Partner Award

Cynthia AndrewsCynthia Andrews, IBM Education Industry Business Development Executive, was named the 2009 Community Partner at United Way's Annual Meeting on March 5, 2010. This award recognizes an individual who has worked diligently to make our community better through United Way.

Andrews has been a United Way volunteer for nearly 10 years. She has devoted countless hours toward improving our community through participation in numerous volunteer committees, including:

  • Board of Directors
  • Community Vision Council
  • Full Campaign Cabinet
  • Humanitarian Society Cabinet
  • Individual Giving Cabinet
  • Women's Initiative

Andrews also serves as an adviser to United Way's Youth Fund Distribution Committee, helping area youths learn about philanthropy through grantmaking to health and human service programs.

She has also been instrumental in facilitating the IBM Technology grants that have distributed IBM computer equipment to health and human service agencies and learning centers in our community annually for more than a decade.

Ms. Andrews is the IBM Education Industry Business Development Executive in its Americas Public Sector East business unit. Cindy and her team work with colleges, universities and school districts to help them develop and provide flexible and secure infrastructures. This improves access for educational institutions, students, faculty, staff and the community to the learning process; instruction and learning thus become more innovative, richer, more inclusive, and critically engaging.
