About Her

I am in my third year as an associate in the Corporate Transactions and Securities group at Thompson Hine LLP. In addition to my involvement with GeNEXT, I serve on the Bridge Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland. My undergraduate degree is in music, and although my background is classical music, I really am an equal-opportunity music lover.

Beverly’s thoughts on what Cleveland offers young professionals

Cleveland has a lot to offer young professionals.  As a self-proclaimed “unlikely transplant,” who grew up in the great State of Texas and came to Cleveland for the job, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe that. For the size of the city, Cleveland has a great legal market. The city boasts a world-class symphony, fantastic restaurants and a very manageable cost of living. Arguably most importantly, Cleveland’s philanthropic community is outstanding. Charitable giving is deeply rooted in Clevelanders, and young professionals who want to get involved here have numerous opportunities to do so.

Why she joined GeneratioNEXT?

I served as a Loaned Executive for United Way in the fall of 2008.  Through the Loaned Executive program, local companies sponsor their employees to work for the United Way on its annual campaign.  During my time at United Way, I was overwhelmed by the amazing work being done by staff, volunteers and partner agencies alike.  Becoming involved with GeNEXT was my way to stay involved, and to further my understanding of the needs in the greater Cleveland community.

Beverly’s favorite GeneratioNEXT event

I thoroughly enjoy the Speaker Series events.  They present a unique opportunity for a small group of young professionals to hear the personal stories of Cleveland’s most successful professionals.  I always leave feeling appreciative that Cleveland’s business leaders see the importance of reaching out to the city’s young professionals.

I am a certified public accountant in the State of Ohio with nearly 8 years of experience within the public accounting industry.  Currently, I am an audit manager at Deloitte & Touche, LLP responsible for managing the external integrated audits for several global and domestic clients. I serve primarily within the Consumer & Industrial Products industry.

I have been a GeneratioNEXT cabinet member since 2008 and enjoy gardening, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

What Joe feels members hope to get out of their involvement with GeneratioNEXT?

In my view, members hope to attain a sense of fulfillment by donating their time, talents and efforts to serve the community.

Why he joined GeneratioNEXT?

About 3 years ago, I was at a point in my career where I was looking for a way to give back to the community and build my personal and professional network.  Through a colleague, I was introduced to GeneratioNEXT.  I was instantly drawn to GenerationNEXT’s focus on serving the community and its dynamic, diverse group of professionals.

Joe’s favorite GeneratioNEXT event
I enjoy the quarterly Networking Events as this is our primary opportunity to meet new people in a fun, relaxed environment.  To date, we have been blessed to have our events at some truly fantastic establishments (Fahrenheit, Edgewater Yacht Club, Speakeasy to name just a few).
