Ride United Bicycle Tour Practice Ride

United Way of Greater Cleveland is pleased to announce RideUNITED, an inaugural bike tour gearing up for Sunday, June 5, 2011. This regional collaborative event between United Way of Greater Cleveland, United Way of Summit County, Cleveland State University, the University of Akron, the City of Cleveland, the City of Akron, the National Park Service, both Metroparks systems in Cuyahoga and Summit Counties, Walk + Roll and Fast Track Cycling is designed to promote healthy living through cycling.

On Saturday, June 19, 2010 nearly 25 volunteer bike riders embarked on a 43-mile “practice bike ride” from Cleveland State University to the University of Akron via the Metroparks Towpath and Scenic Byways to analyze the route. The fast riders tested the road route, weekend riders assessed the Towpath route and the touring riders evaluated the Towpath. The practice riders’ feedback will help to finalize all five route options consisting of various distances ranging from four miles to a 100-mile century ride. Shorter route options on the RideUNITED tour will enable riders of all ages and abilities to participate. More >>
