Giving Back on our Day Off

Football season! But up there with it … Hometown Huddle. Tuesdays are our day off, but giving back is always at the front of my mind, and it’s the same with many of my teammates. I’m honored to be the ambassador for United Way here in Cleveland. The work they do, we see impact, which is most important.

Yesterday we teamed up with United Way for the 17th annual Hometown Huddle, we got our hands dirty and built a playground at Dike School of the Arts in the Central Neighborhood of Cleveland so these kiddos have a safe place to play and get active during and after school. Our annual tradition continues with volunteers coming together for a good cause. We’re also encouraging these students to get active in their new space!

IMG_6194You’ve probably heard of NFLPLAY 60, and here we are on the ground making this movement come to life, getting 60 minutes of activity a day. This project is important to me because I want kids to know how important it is to PLAY but also making sure their time in school is valued. What I also love about being in the community is being with my teammates who also share a passion for giving back. Teamwork is important to us and is part of our ‘Play Like a Brown’ mentality. Have you seen the orange #give10 wristbands that my teammates and volunteers were wearing? It is our statement that we are committed to Cleveland and to giving back through the Browns First and Ten movement. These volunteers definitely got their 10 hours in building the playground on Tuesday! I know the Cleveland Browns are proud to help our community.

I have taken my First and Ten pledge to give back for at least 10 hours in my community this year, and you can too! Join me in making a difference by taking the pledge today.

HometownHuddle2015HometownHuddle2015_MumsHometown Huddle is truly an unbelievable day, not only here in Cleveland where 100 volunteers joined together to give back to the community but all the other NFL teams were involved in their community to support health and fitness for kids, too! I make sure I have fun with everything I do, and yesterday was no different. Shout out to the volunteers who helped with this project. I can’t wait to see your photos on social media. I’ll be sure to search #give10, #HuddleCLE and #LiveUnited.HometownHuddle2015_Dedication

A special thanks to my teammates, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Browns Foundation, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, United Way of Greater Cleveland and FirstEnergy who all really made this a “Hometown Huddle.” #give10
