Impacting the community through volunteerism is quite powerful. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics more than 62 million people volunteered through or for an organization at least once from September 2013 to September 2014 (Volunteering, 2015). Volunteers give of themselves each and every day to help others without asking for anything in return.
United Way is a vehicle for individuals to give of themselves in meaningful ways. We work to create purposeful volunteer opportunities that advance education, income, and health. The organization has identified these critical areas to invest resources and human capital to improve community conditions. Our volunteer opportunities range from working with students to assure they are reading at grade level to providing tax assistance during tax season. The overall goal is to mobilize manpower and voices to fulfill our mission!
Whether individuals volunteer for altruistic reasons or otherwise countless days and hours are contributed each year by caring volunteers to make a difference. United Way knows that caring volunteers have the power to change lives. During this year’s National Volunteer Week consider donating your time to United Way.
