YOU ARE HERE: > Meet Nicole

Meet Nicole, college degreed and working full-time to support her family but struggling to make ends meet. She is working hard to make a better life for her children but as she builds her career she has quickly become ineligible for government benefits such as food stamps or Medicaid. And, unfortunately, her story is all too common, there are a staggering number of our residents who are “falling through the cracks” some call it the Benefits Cliff and United Way is calling this population A.L.I.C.E. (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).

In Geauga County 25% of our households fall below the ALICE threshold, which means they struggle to afford the basic needs of housing, food, health care, child care, and transportation. This affects individuals who work with us and in our community, our neighbors, they work hard as cashiers, child care workers, librarians, bank tellers, health care aides and in the nonprofit sector helping others while struggling themselves.
Please donate now to help Nicole and all ALICE Families in our community to fulfill their basic needs and move toward financial stability.
