About John
Currently, I am a member of Oswald Companies’ New Business Development Team.  I work closely with business owners and other business advisors to help middle market companies effectively manage and transfer business risk while specializing in the areas of commercial real estate, nonprofits and financial services. My previous work experience includes a Chicago real estate & development firm, and an associate at a Cleveland based wealth management firm. In addition to Oswald Companies and the United Way Young Leaders, I spend my time as a member of the Boys & Girls Club Bridge Board and the Julie Billiart School Governance Committee.  I also volunteer my time in speaking at my alma mater, John Carroll, in sharing my real world business and entrepreneurial activities with students.  I enjoy exercising, (deep sea) fishing and spending time with family.

Why did you join Young Leaders?
I was introduced to United Way by one of Oswald Companies’ Team Leaders, Carmen Edgehouse and joined in April 2011.  I have always wanted to be involved in the community in some way and thought this was a perfect opportunity to pay it forward.

What is your favorite Young Leaders event and why?
My Favorite Young Leaders event would be the happy hour/networking events. It’s a great opportunity to network with other young professionals in the community while relaxing over cocktails and enjoying one of the many excellent venues where these events are held. Additionally, Oswald Companies partners with the United Way in hosting the annual Days of Caring event held at various United Way Agencies. It is a great experience when you remove yourself out of your own daily activities and experience the lives of others who are less fortunate.  It provides you a different perspective on life.

What do members hope to get out of their involvement with Young Leaders?
I think every member will have their own unique experience during their involvement with Young Leaders. The Young Leaders are presented with a unique opportunity to not only serve the community, but also to meet people you otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to meet.  From listening to influential business and community leaders at Young Leaders Speaker Series events, to happy hour networking events and various volunteer activities; Young Leaders are exposed to different aspects of business and life that helps set them apart from others.
