Strengthening Greater Cleveland Public Schools

United Way of Greater Cleveland offers rich support to Cleveland Public Schools, ensuring students in poverty get the support they need.

CMSD Investment Schools

Cleveland Metropolitan School District Investment Schools are dedicated to turning around the lowest performing schools in the area. These schools focus on communities, teachers, staff and parents working together.

Importance of Investment Schools

The needs of our kids are diverse and the problems poverty presents within a family are vast, getting in the way of academic performance. Investment schools put a focus on community involvement including after-school programs, tutoring, mentoring and support resources to strengthen educational importance.

How United Way Helps

United Way has placed a dedicated person in 25 CMSD Schools to wade through the complexities of being poor and get our kids and their families the help they need. United Way’s site coordinators are finding kids whose behavior clearly indicates something is wrong to find out what it is and solve the problem. This may take digging and may require a number of interventions, but the help the children receive is worth it.

Cleveland Public Schools are going through dramatic changes with the help of United Way of Greater Cleveland. Through teamwork, our goal is to ensure that all children, no matter their background, receive a meaningful education.
