The Lead Safe Cleveland Coalition has received a $2.5 million gift from Cleveland Clinic to the Lead Safe Home Fund. The five-year financial commitment will help support a collaboration with United Way of Greater Cleveland to remove harmful sources of lead exposure from local homes.
Today Legal Aid and United Way formally launch Free Eviction Help – expanding outreach and services for people who need legal counsel while facing eviction. This comes on the one-year anniversary of the launch of Right to Counsel in Cleveland Housing Court.
CHN Housing Partners and United Way of Greater Cleveland today announced a plan to build Cleveland Scholar House, a service-enriched apartment building for single parents who are college students and their minor children. In addition to CHN and United Way, other core partners include Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA), Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Cleveland State University (CSU) and Step Forward.
CLEVELAND: United Way and Legal Aid announced that Right to Counsel Cleveland’s (RTC) early results show 93% of those at risk of eviction and represented in Cleveland Housing Court by a Legal Aid attorney avoided an eviction or involuntary move between July – December 2020. In addition, more than $3.8 million of rent relief was distributed by CHN Housing Partners within Cleveland as a result of legal assistance provided to tenants, preserving landlords’ income.
