On June 24, Geauga volunteers got the job done!
More than 40 volunteers came together to assemble 300 Welcome Care kits for Geauga County organizations to distribute to local families and individuals facing a housing crisis.
“United Way Services of Geauga County is proud to host our annual Day of Action, and this year, we focused on the assembly of 300 Welcome Care Kits for families and individuals experiencing a housing crisis, including homelessness, due to an eviction or other housing instability issues,” said Karen Perko, Director of Community Engagement at United Way Services of Geauga County.
Karen Cronin, Board Chair of United Way Services of Geauga County, added, “Providing Welcome Care kits filled with essentials including personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies is one small act with the significant impact of restoring an individual’s dignity and helping ease their burden. We are so grateful to our employees, volunteers, and sponsors for supporting us and those living within our community today during United Way Services of Geauga County’s annual Day of Action.”
After the event, Day of Action volunteers distributed 300 Welcome Kits to eight local organizations, including Claridon Community Helps, Doors of Hope, Family Pride, Geauga Metropolitan Housing Authority, Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, Next Step, Ravenwood Health, and WomenSafe.
Throughout the month of June, employees at United Way Services of Geauga County and United Way of Greater Cleveland donated items for inclusion in the Welcome Care Kits.
